On Wednesday, Tennis icon Roger Federer joined a host of other influential athletes who’ve donated upwards of $1 million towards aiding coronavirus relief efforts.
The Swiss athlete announced via Instagram that he and his wife Mirka had recently donated 1 million Swiss Francs towards providing aid to the most vulnerable families in Switzerland.
Federer shared, “These are challenging times for everyone and nobody should be left behind.
“Mirka and I have personally decided to donate one million Swiss Francs for the most vulnerable families in Switzerland.
Our contribution is just a start. We hope that others might join in supporting more families in need. Together we can overcome this crisis! Stay healthy!”
During this pandemic multiple athletes have stepped up to assist those that they work with. Athletes have donated and pledged that they would assist in paying worker’s wages to ensure that they would not struggle financially during this period.
