“Parasite” Movie Makes History At The SAG Awards
On Sunday the South Korean film cast of the movie “Parasite” was honored with the best ensemble award at the SAG Awards.
The movie made history as the first foreign language film to earn the award, potentially paving the way for other films in foreign languages.
“I’m so honored to receive this award in front of such amazing actors that I admire. I will never forget this beautiful night,” cast member Song Kang Ho said through a translator.
Of the 10-person cast only half of the members went up on stage and accepted the award.
The director Bong Joon Ho remained seated and recorded the cast’s win from the audience.
Backstage after their victory, the cast member Choi Woo Shik shared his hope to “see more foreign language films and Asian films recognized.”
“Parasite’s” win capped off an evening otherwise lacking in winners from diverse backgrounds.
There were no actors of colour were awarded individual acting honours.
