A recent announcement from Nike will see a majority of the company’s stores shutting down in numerous countries from all around the world.
Amid coronavirus concerns the company announced that from this upcoming Monday until the 27th of March a succession of its stores in the U.S., Canada, a massive part of Western Europe, Australia and New Zealand would be no longer be operational.
However, according to the company its stores in South Korea, Japan and China will not be affected by this recent decision to close.
Asian countries have had a longer period of time to deal with the coronavirus within their borders and for that reason have been seeing significant improvements and results in their efforts to contain the spread of the virus. Hence, the management at Nike has chosen to keep its stores in those countries operational.
Nike has confirmed that workers from the stores that will be closed will still receive pay regardless of them not working.
