Bill Gates, the Billionaire founder of Microsoft, has placed an order for the world’s first hydrogen-powered superyacht which will cost him an estimated $645 million.
The Billionaire has long been in support of the construction of the innovative ‘Aqua’ ship, since the Monaco Yacht Show by Dutch marine architects Sinot in 2019.
What makes the ‘Aqua’ so unique and special is that it is powered entirely by liquid hydrogen, making its only emissions water.
When the vessel arrives in the year 2024 it’s expected to have a length of 112-metres, comprise of up to five decks and have additional features such as a gym, beauty room, massage parlour, yoga studio and a cascading pool.
The ‘Aqua’s’ revolutionary fuel source will enable the vessel to travel a distance of 3,750 miles before needing to refuel. When it comes to speed, this superyacht will peak at around 17 knots.
According to the Daily Mail, Bill Gates was exact customer that Sander Sinot was aiming to appeal too.
“For development of Aqua we took inspiration from the lifestyle of a discerning, forward-looking owner, the fluid versatility of water and cutting-edge technology to combine this in a superyacht with truly innovative features.”
