Keeping to the pledge it made in May nearly two years ago, Facebook recently announced that “over the coming weeks” it’ll be releasing the new “faster, smaller, and simpler” version of Messenger for iOS.
Facebook stated that due to them re-writing the entire codebase of the app the new version would load in half the time and be a quarter of its original size.
The social network’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, believes that users will realize that the new Messenger app will “feel much faster and more responsive compared to other apps you use.”
However, according to Facebook the app will sacrifice a few features in the short-term to achieve this level of efficiency.
Regarding the suspended features Facebook solely stated that it would be working to ensure that they do become available to users once again.
