After a majority of the big watch brands pulled out of Baselworld earlier this week, LVMH’s watch brands have chosen to do the same.
The LVMH brands join the likes of Chanel, Rolex, Patek Phillippe, Chopard and Tudor which withdrew from the event opting instead to showcase their products at the Watches & Wonders Geneva show.
LVMH chose to withdraw from Baselworld after the event’s date was shifted to January. Although that may not seem to be much of a reason to withdraw from a major event it definitely is. Baselworld taking place in January places the event in direct contention with LVMH’s own Dubai watch event which takes during the same month.
According to LVMH its Dubai event was a major success this year. In fact, the event was such a success that Bulgari felt comfortable withdrawing from Baselworld in February, before other watchmakers determined that they would do the same.
The Watches and Wonders event in Geneva which will host the big 5 watch brands will take place in April 2021.
